A close up of the raccoon on the cover of Music for Trash Pandas by Chromadrift
Music For Trash Pandas is the first album of 2022 by Chromadrift, aka Drew Miller. He wanted a very soft, Lo-Fi Art style for this to match the mood of the album. This was achieved through the soft palette, the neon style glowing lines for the building edges, and the overlaid grain layer, giving a softer texture to the city for the raccoon to wander in.
Which city? Montreal.
A picture taken in downtown Montreal on Rue Ste Catherine
This photo, taken while walking downtown trying to find a good location for this cover stood out for its composition of buildings that would work for this project. A location is only good, however, when one has a character to populate it. The prime direction was a cute, small, furry character.

Putting the actual cover together was exercise in forcing perspective and removing the outlines on the raccoon himself. The main typeface for Chromadrift and the title is Sailor, while the handwritten typeface for the track listing is one of my own design called Sophie.
